“We are thrilled to have a college admissions dean of the caliber of Bill Fitzsimmons share his wealth of knowledge with our students and parents,” said Sharon Koenings, Brookfield Academy’s Director of College Counseling and president of the Wisconsin Association of College Admissions Counselors. "Bill is the rock star of the college admissions world."

In his leadership of the National Association for College Admission Counseling, Fitzsimmons has chaired the Commission on the Use of Standardized Tests in Undergraduate Admissions, as well as authored various research projects and publications and directed professional activities on issues related to college admissions and financial aid.

Bill Cords is New AD
Bill Cords, former Marquette University athletic director, has joined the Brookfield Academy faculty as athletic director.

“Bill brings a great wealth of experience and wisdom to the position,” head of school Dr. Robert Solsrud said. “He has a passion to improve the quality of our program and will be a great mentor for our coaching staff.”

Cords retired from the Marquette athletics department in 2007. He was not looking to go back to work, but when he learned that Dave Von Rueden, the current athletic director, planned to move on to other pursuits, he jumped at the opportunity to join the Brookfield Academy staff.

“I am so impressed with Brookfield Academy and its mission and philosophy of education,” he said. “Athletics is a part of the education process and I am looking forward to working with the administrators, teachers, coaches, and students in that process.”

The Brookfield Academy Blue Knights wear blue and gold. “This is my first job change where I have not had to change my wardrobe,” commented Cords, with a chuckle.
