BA’s Got Talent 2010 Winner Chosen
The audience has voted and freshman Jack Boatman won the 2010 "BA’s Got Talent" contest for his virtuoso violin playing.

After a full day of competition on Saturday, May 8, judges chose four contestants in three divisions to compete for the BA’s Got Talent crown on Wednesday, May 12, as part of the spring choral concert program. During intermission, the audience had the opportunity to vote for their favorite act.

Class of 2010 Graduates
The 62 members of the Class of 2010 received their Brookfield Academy diplomas in a commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 16, at 2 pm in the Patriots Hall gym. They are the first Brookfield Academy class to graduate from the newly-opened Patriots Hall Upper School. Herbert V. Kohler, Jr., CEO of the Kohler Company, spoke at the ceremony.

Spring Concert and BA's Got Talent Finals, May 12
Enjoy selections from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s CATS sung by the Middle and Upper School Chorus in their spring concert on Wednesday evening, May 12. The performance begins at 7 pm in Constitution Hall. During the intermission, the audience will have the opportunity to vote for this year’s BA’s Got Talent winner.

After a full day of competition on Saturday, May 8, judges chose four contestants in three divisions to advance in the talent program. Those contestants are Abigail Montalbo (voice), Vibhusha Kolli (classical Indian dance), Michelle Harvey (dance), and Jack Boatman (violin).

The concert is free of charge and open to the public.

A farewell reception for director Sam Belich will be held following the performance.

National Merit Scholarship Award
Brookfield Academy has six National Merit Finalists among a senior class of 62 students. One of those Finalists, Andrew Hinkens, has been awarded a $2500 National Merit Scholarship, for use at the college he will attend in the fall.

2010 Clarkson Prize Winners Announced
"Morality and Literature" was the topic of Brookfield Academy senior David Vance’s first-place presentation in the third annual Freedom Plus competition for the Thomas Clarkson prizes. David won a $500 college scholarship for his presentation before a panel of judges on April 27.

A second-place prize of $250 was awarded to Emily Van Weelden ("The Character and Legacy of George Washington"). Mary Ellis’s presentation, "Sharia Law and Religious Freedom," won the third-place prize of $150.

Honorable mention awards were given to Brianne Caoyonan ("The Immigrant Experience and the American Idea") and Holly Helm ("Why Aid to Africa Is Not Working").

The top Freedom Plus senior presentations competed for the Thomas Clarkson Prize in a judged competition on April 27 at Brookfield Academy. Senior presentations are a relatively new part of the curriculum at Brookfield Academy. Each senior was required to prepare a short talk or creative presentation on a topic related to the philosophy of freedom, working under the mentorship of an Upper School faculty member.
