National Merit Scholarship Award
Brookfield Academy has six National Merit Finalists among a senior class of 62 students. One of those Finalists, Andrew Hinkens, has been awarded a $2500 National Merit Scholarship, for use at the college he will attend in the fall.

Brady All Stars
Seniors John Davis and Heidi Eggert were named Brady Corporation All Stars for excellence in athletics, academics, and service to Brookfield Academy and the community.

Head of School Receives Marquette University Alumni Award
Dr. Robert Solsrud, Brookfield Academy Head of School, was awarded the Educational Policy and Leadership National Alumni Achievement Award by Marquette University in a ceremony on April 22.

Dr. Solsrud earned a doctoral degree in educational policy and leadership from Marquette University in 2003. He earned a bachelor of science degree from Marquette in 1973.

Brookfield Academy's head of school since 1993, Solsrud was recognized for his skilled leadership and vision in ensuring educational success for Brookfield Academy's 805 preschool through high school students. In addition, he led the largest capital campaign in BA history, providing the means to build Patriots Hall, a new Upper School, and make campus-wide improvements.

As a member of the Brookfield Academy faculty for 39 years, Solsrud also has taught, coached, and been athletic director. He has developed a zealous commitment to independent education, which he says, "provides the freedom to define a mission and pursue it with unbridled energy and enthusiasm."

BA’s Got Talent - May 8
Singing, dancing, instrumental performance, dramatic monologues: BA’s got the talent. A fun, school-wide talent contest is open to all BA students in Levels 3 through 12. Applications and contest rules are available in all school offices. The competition takes place Saturday, May 8. Judges will select one winner from each division, who will perform during the intermission of the Middle and Upper School Choral Concert on May 12. The concert audience will select this year's BA’s Got Talent winner.

National Latin Exam Garners 79 Awards
Results are in for the national Latin exams. Brookfield Academy students scored very high on these exams. Upper School students were awarded 54 prizes for their performance and 25 Middle School students were award winners. A sophomore completed her third perfect test and a senior won her fifth gold medal.Three Upper School students won fourth gold medals.

Latin is a required subject for Brookfield Academy sixth and seventh graders. Opportunities to continue the language study are offered in eighth grade and throughout the high school curriculum, culminating in Advanced Placement Latin.

Many Brookfield Academy students enjoy participating in activities of the school’s Latin Club and The Wisconsin Junior Classical League.
