Your BA scholar can study music with highly qualified private instructors on campus after school. Whether they are just beginning on an instrument, expanding their skills to enhance their experience in choir, band, or strings, or looking to reach a new level of musical mastery, our teachers will take them there.
 
Enjoy the convenience of completing music lessons in a supportive and challenging environment. Schedules are flexible to meet your student’s needs.

  • Primary School

    Brookfield Academy offers individual lessons to students in Levels B–2, in Independence Hall, for the following instruments:
    • Piano
    • Violin
    • Voice
    Level A students may only enroll if a parent will attend all lessons with their student. 
  • Lower School

    Brookfield Academy offers individual lessons to students in Levels 3–5, in Independence and Liberty Halls, for the following instruments:
    • Piano

  • Angela Jacoby - Woodwinds

    BM UW-Whitewater
    Angela studied under Dr. Matthew Sintchak and Dr. Nicholas Zoulek while earning her degree in Instrumental Music Education, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in May of 2022. While attending Whitewater, she performed with the University's Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensembles, Saxophone Ensemble and Quartets, Pep Band, and Marching Band. She was able to perform at places such as Carnegie Hall and Lambeau Field. 
     
    In addition to teaching CODA Lessons, she is currently teaching full time at Fontana Elementary School teaching 4th-8th grade band as well as working closely with the Mukwonago High School Band Program as a Woodwind Instructor during their marching band season and with their chamber music program, Blue2Winds. 
  • Marcya McReynolds - Voice & Piano

    BA Roosevelt University/Chicago Musical College
    Ms. McReynolds has over thirty years of experience teaching voice. She is a frequent performer with credits including: Jazz at Lincoln Center, Lyric Theater of Illinois, and Bel Canto Chorus of Milwaukee. She loves teaching students on material they are passionate about in a wide range of genres from opera to jazz and musical theatre. Listen to Marcya McReynolds here and here.

  • Sarah Kwon (Suae Yun) - Piano

    BM Northeastern Illinois University
    Miss Kwon studied under Susan Tang and Inna Falicks for her degree in Piano Performance at Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago. She has 15 years of teaching experience and enjoys helping students achieve their musical goals. Listen to Sarah Kwon here.
  • Grace Sorenson

    Grace Sorenson has taught piano in the Milwaukee area for four years. While attending UW-Milwaukee, she studied under Dr. Otwell and performed both solo and collaborative works on the piano. Grace teaches at Brookfield Academy, St. John Vianney School in Brookfield, and has a private studio in the Whitefish Bay area. She is also the Minister of Music at St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she plays both piano and organ. She has presented at the National Conference for Keyboard Pedagogy and the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association Conference and has been published in Piano Inspires Magazine run by the Frances Clark Center. She believes that every student is capable of playing the piano, and loves to push students to new levels of success. Many of her students participate in the WMTA Badger State Piano Competition and the WMTA Composition Competition. Her lessons have an emphasis on creating well rounded musicians with a strong sense of personal responsibility. "A student is almost always motivated to practice if he leaves his lessons feeling capable." - Frances Clark.
  • Ian Wasserman

    Cellist Ian Wasserman received his Bachelors in Fine Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2021 and his Masters of Music Degree from the University of Kentucky in 2024. While in Kentucky, Wasserman served as the Teaching Assistant to Benjamin Karp, and this fall will serve as the Teaching Assistant to Stefan Kartman at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in a post Master’s Certificate in Orchestral Studies.

    Ian has performed as a substitute cellist with the Charlotte Symphony, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, West Virginia Symphony, South Bend Symphony Orchestra, Evansville Philharmonic, the Lexington Philharmonic, and more. Wasserman has experience teaching through the University of Kentucky where he taught undergraduate cellists the group technique class and UW-Milwaukee where he teaches non-major cello lessons. Additionally, he is a faculty member at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and was formerly a faculty member at Camp Encore Coda, and the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra. His students have been accepted into University Programs, and awarded scholarships.
