Preparing Students for College and Life
The Upper School provides a warm, nurturing environment and opportunities for academic challenge. Classes are small and every student receives individual attention and direction. Teachers hold advanced degrees and all share a heartfelt passion to work with young people.
A solid college-preparatory curriculum challenges every student. Students are required to take English, math, science, history, foreign language, art, and music. They have the option of taking several elective courses. Numerous Advanced Placement courses are offered in the Arts, English, biology, chemistry, physics, calculus AB and BC, statistics, United States and European history, Spanish, French, German and Latin, US government and politics, comparative government and politics, computer programming, art, and micro and macro economics.
Students are given more responsibilities and privileges as they mature. Upper School students may participate in Student Council, organize and run club activities, and captain athletic teams. Upperclassmen enjoy some open campus privileges to help them prepare for college life. Students are frequently invited to leave campus to visit educational and cultural locations in the surrounding metro area
The BA Way
In short, the Upper School provides an effective transition to college through excellent academic preparation and multiple opportunities to grow and experience the freedoms and responsibilities available in a school environment that both challenges and supports young people.
